ZipTie may run on other platforms, these are the platforms we have run it on in house. If you find one not listed here that works, please let us and the community know by posting on the forum or send us an email at info@ziptie.org and we will update the page.

ZipTie Client Prerequisites

Sun Java Runtime (JRE) version 1.5 (aka 5.0) or version 1.6 (aka 6.0)

ZipTie Server Prerequisites

1. Sun Java Development Kit (JDK) version 1.5 (aka 5.0) or version 1.6 (aka 6.0)

2. Perl 5.8.x

  • For Windows ActiveState Perl is recommended and can be found here (for free) - http://www.activestate.com/store/download.aspx?prdGUID=81fbce82-6bd5-49bc-a915-08d58c2648ca
  • Mac OS X and any contemporary Linux should have the required version of Perl.
  • The following Perl modules are required on Linux and OS X:

4. Subversion dependencies

ZipTie uses the Subversion version control system to archive configuration histories.

Windows and Ubuntu users do not have to do anything as all the dependencies are taken care of by the respective installers. However if you are using a different flavor of Linux (other than Ubuntu) or MacOSX, you will have to install the dependencies yourself.

On Linux, users should use their package manager to install and packages usually vary from distro to distro, but they usually contain the names "libsvn" for the Subversion libraries and "svn-javahl" for the Java Subversion bindings (e.g. on Ubuntu it is "libsvn1" and "libsvn-javahl" and on Mandriva it is "libsvn" and "svn-javahl").

MacOSX users can use the following link http://downloads.open.collab.net/binaries.html to get to a binary install.
