What is ZONA?

The ZipTie Open Network Alliance (ZONA) is a group of like-minded companies and organizations interested in advancing and promoting interoperability, open management standards, best practices and value-added tools for the networking community.

Configuration is essential to interoperability and manageability. ZONA partners are able to leverage ZipTie's network configuration and change management capabilities to provide new levels of accessibility to their network devices. This extends each ZONA partner's ability to deliver valuable management capabilities to their customers, making their devices easier to manage and integrate as part of the whole network ecosystem.

While ZONA is currently comprised of network equipment providers, we are interested in having network and system management ISVs and enterprises join as well. The vendor-specific content that ZONA members contribute to the community becomes part of a more holistic management solution for their customers, one that offers improved depth into device specifics and breadth across management capabilities.

We believe that this approach to creating and delivering compelling, useful content will have a positive effect on how networks are managed.

As a ZONA member, you will be able to help your customers to better govern their networks by:

• Helping to drive interoperability and standardization across open source and commercial offerings.
  • As many enterprises are moving the responsibility of interoperability out to their vendors, ZONA provides a broader, more open way to address the challenge of insuring this device and content interoperability
• Contributing to a community dedicated to simplifying network management through standards, openness, and compelling, useful and actionable content
• Providing “network ready” solutions to your customers that:
  • Accelerate the acquisition-to-deployment-to-production cycle
  • Deliver more high-value, vendor-specific content, plug-ins and best practices out-of-the-box to improve manageability and reduce risk

In addition, you will be able to interact with a broad community of networking professionals to hear their requests and techniques to address real-world situations. Many members of the community will create their own tools and improvements to your content that will be contributed back to the ZONA community.

What do ZONA partners do?

Participation in the ZipTie Open Network Alliance includes, but is not limited to, these activities:

• Adapters - develop and contribute adapters for hardware equipment and enabling software tools
• APIs – provide an application program interface to facilitate adapter development or integration with applications
• Best practices:
  • Rules – define a set of actions that are performed when certain conditions exist
  • Policies – define a set of rules to administer, manage, and control access to resources
  • Vulnerabilities – identify and document threats, weakness or defects in network devices
  • Tools / Utilities / Applications / Plug-ins – build tools or integrate existing tool sets into ZipTie
